With the announcement of Google’s new sat-nav technology which promises free real-time, turn-by-turn directions for people to follow on their phones using Google Maps – we feel its more important then ever to get your Google Local listings up to date.

The potential of real time search results and this application is huge. Just imagine driving along in your car, and you want to find a local restaurant, but you want to know what the special of the day is – in real time search  - it could be updated that day!

The stock market’s reaction showed concerns for the old technology from TomTom as its share price fell – banishing all its gains since August.

The application will be launched on the Motorola Droid, but we predict this is just the beginning . . .

Twitter ‘costs businesses £1.4bn’ 0 comments

A recent report by IT group Morse says on average 40 minutes per week are spent on social networking sites such as twitter.  The survey was carried out with 1460 office workers.

Although some businesses might see this in a negative light, we see it differently.

Perhaps if a survey was carried out to see the benefits of brand awareness for businesses which share information on this platform – it would show that actually businesses could increase sales to outweigh the losses.

This is what social media optimisation is all about. It has fast become the easiest way to communicate news, offers and ideas with your audience via desktops and mobile devices.

Start your twitter account today and contact us about how we can help optimise your social websites.

Tweet & Search – Change is here 0 comments

Do you tweet yet? If not get an account and begin – real time search is going to be essential in search engine optimisation.

Twitter has signed deals with Google and Microsoft to put messages into search indexes.

This means messages could appear in Bing and Google as search results almost as soon as they are posted on twitter.

Bing has a dedicated Twitter results page, whilst its not clear how Google will show the results.

Marissa Meyer, Google’s vice president of search products wrote on the official Google blog:

Ms Mayer said the inclusion of real-time results could aid some searches.
“…the next time you search for something that can be aided by a real-time observation, say, snow conditions at your favourite ski resort, you’ll find tweets from other users who are there and sharing the latest and greatest information,”

The move will see the Google and Bing join companies such as OneRiot, Crowdeye and Collecta that already provide these feeds. In addition, to Facebook’s FriendFeed which offers real-time updates within groups of friends and colleagues.

Shares of GOOG are at a 52-week high of $535 a share

Google reported net profit of $1.64bn (£1bn) between July and September, up 27% on the same period a year ago.
“The worst of the recession is clearly behind us,” said Google chief executive Eric Schmidt.

‘Spending money on SEO and Online Marketing’

The internet search engine has worn the recession better than other advertising-reliant companies.

“Google has virtually no competition. Yahoo is withering on the vine and [Microsoft's] Bing is still too small at the moment” said Coin Gillis, senior analyst at Brigantine Advisors.

” Advertisers are back and they are spending money!”

you tube on 1 billion hits a day

you tube on 1 billion hits a day

Video sharing site You Tube (which is owned by Google) has announced that they are receiving over one billion hits per day!

The co founders said when they started You Tube: “We wanted to create a place where anyone with a video camera, a computer, and an internet connection can share their life, art, and voice with the world, and in many cases they can make a living from doing so”.

This is very much true when you consider the potential in Video as part of your seo plan. Video content not only is avaiable very quickly directly when searching on a site such as You Tube, but also is appearing in search results on Google.

You are also able to add meta data tags and other descriptions which can help.

Your videos can be anything you like. You may consider an educational set of videos, which teach your customers about your subject – therefore captivating an audience and giving a weight to your content that is enthralling. Or perhaps a fun video which shows a less serious side to your business – remember we all watch videos at home for escapism!

We can help create your You Tube channel and advise on how best to add your content as part of your search plan.
